How a Shy Kid Found Confidence Shredding Guitar
As a kid, I hated piano lessons. The songs were so boring and antique! I could barely read music, let alone play it. My parents were bummed when I quit, but it just wasn’t working.
Even in high school music class, everything was outdated. When I aced the aptitude test, they offered me…oboe lessons? My dad and I laughed – no way! He suggested drums or guitar instead, but I was too shy back then.
Few years later though, everything changed. I tried my cousin’s guitar at a party and instantly caught the bug! Got my own guitar for my birthday shortly after and practiced like crazy, 6 hours a day. I went from hating music to being totally obsessed!
Now as a teacher, I make sure kids have an awesome experience, unlike my own. Music should be fun! I help them fall in love with guitar, whether they want a hobby or music career. My goal is to guide them on their musical journey in a way no one did for me back then.
Guitar Lessons Shouldn't Be Hard, Boring Or Overwhelming For Your Child
We provide a structured learning pathway that’s easy to follow and personalised to the needs of every student!
We’re Raising The Rockstars of the Future
Let’s be real, most children love music lessons for the first few weeks until the novelty wears off and they realise that they are going to have to put in some effort. But what if learning guitar could be fun and easy! That’s where Guitar Ninjas comes in!
Guitar Ninjas is a guitar method I’ve written specifically for kids that borrows the belt system & discipline from martial arts, the gamification found in video games along learning psychology which is combined to create the ultimate method for learning guitar!Â
Children experience weekly in-person lessons with 24/7 access to online video resources and most importantly, are given the rock star experience with monthly jam sessions and performance opportunities. Imagine how boring sports would be if you trained all year and only played one game at the end? By having much more frequent opportunities to actually play music kids find lessons way more engaging.

Frequently Asked Questions
We find that most students are ready to start learning guitar by Age 6.
We have our Little Ninjas Program for students aged 6-8
We have our Guitar Ninjas program for students aged 9-12
We run our Teen Guitar Program for students aged 13-17.
We do not take any students under the age of 5 years old.
All students will need their own guitar on at home.
Having said this we will provide a guitar to use in the trial lesson and can provide short term hire guitars if need be.
Advice on purchasing a guitar is included in your trial session and we'll make a recommendation on the correct size after we've met and assessed your child.
We often hear adult students worry about their hands being too small to play guitar.
When it comes to kids, everyone has small hands, so its not an issue!
We take a simplified approach to learning that focuses on what success looks like at this level of development and account for the size of our hands and the level of motor control we have at a given period of development.
We'll also make recommendations on what size guitar to buy so that you have a suitable instrument to learn on.
Research shows that children learn best when the frequency is high. This is why your children learn maths and english at school every day.
All of our students must commit to at least one lesson per week.
We actually encourage all of our students to do at least two lessons per week and have special programs for students who want to learn at an accelerated pace.
Most of the music you hear on the radio is the product of at least 5-10 years of hard work by the recording artist.
Therefore we should set our expectations that learning guitar is going to be a long term commitment.
Having said that we have created a special 'level-up' system for learning guitar that allows students to learn how to play along to real songs in a simplified way from Day 1.
For example, expecting our kids to play along to a song like Hotel California in 6 months is the equivalent of expecting them to bench press 100kg... it's just not going to happen because it takes months or even years for fully developed adults to work up to this.
But if we give them a broomstick, then they are definitely going to be able to do the exercise and start working their way up until they find the threshold of their ability.
We help our students play along to real songs at a 'broomstick level' and make things progressively more challenging over time until they are playing what we hear on the recording.
It's a totally different approach, but that's why it's working so well!
You can learn lots of good stuff on Youtube, but for every good video and teacher there are a hundred bad lessons and as a beginner you don’t yet know the difference. You could fumble around on your own for months or years and end up getting nowhere, or you could pay us to teach you the right way from the beginning and save a lot of time, energy and frustration. You generally get what you pay for so choose wisely.
We have created our own internal grading system called the Guitar Ninjas Program which we originally made because we found that traditional exam programs focused too much on dated classical music and didn’t resonate with contemporary guitar students.
Having said that we’ve had great success taking our students through AMEB, Rockschool, and VCE exams and can arrange to take students through exam programs IN ADDITION to their standard program upon request.
All of our junior guitar lesson programs for beginners are run as group lessons with up to 6 students per group.
We train ALL of our students in groups. (just like primary & secondary schools, universities, sports teams, dance schools and martial arts clubs who use group based learning very successfully)
Private lessons are unlocked by students who have reached level 4 in the Guitar Ninjas Program
Consideration will be given to special needs kids where a group environment isn't conducive to successful learning.
The idea that children need to start on an acoustic guitar and work their way up to electric guitar is a myth.
If your child listens to primarily rock, metal and other electric guitar based music then we recommend they begin on electric guitar straight away (provided you have the budget to do so).
If your child listens to primarily acoustic based music (and/or you have a lower budget for an instrument) then we recommend starting on an acoustic guitar.
There are a variety of 1/4, 1/2 & 3/4 size guitars for kids and we're more than happy to provide far more detailed advice on purchasing guitars over the phone or in your trial session.
Yes, we do guitar lesson gift vouchers for all of our lesson programs. Use claim free lesson button to register and inquiry and a member of our team will be in touch.
